According to media sources, Klaus Ioannis, President of Romania may receive this years Charlemagne Prize in Aachen. The prestigious European award will be received by a President, who raised extremist and chauvinistic voices against the Hungarian community in Romania. As a former Commissioner for European Youth, Culture and Sports, a former member of the European Commission and as an ardent supporter for the European cause I protest against the decision of the board of trustees. It is unimaginable that Klaus Ioannis can receive such a prize in a Europe I fervently support.
